Meet your crew at Marsh Harbour where they will welcome you with a tropical drink as you start your Abacos charter adventure. Settle in and enjoy the views as the yacht takes a short cruise or sail to your first mooring of Green Turtle Cay. The group may decide to dock at the Green Turtle Cay Yacht Club or anchor in Coco Bay to visit the beach bar or just chillax on board as you become memorized by the peaceful invitation of the glistening stars.
Wake up and soak in the sea of blue enveloping you while your chef delights you with a leisurely breakfast. Take advantage of the calm anchorage with a little morning exercise on the SUP or kayak. The yacht will move to No Name Cay, or “Piggy Island” for an adventuresome swim with the pigs of the Abacos. Beachcomb through the white sands of the pristine bay before moving over to Great Guana Cay, home of the famous Nipper’s Sunday Fun Day! Enjoy the iconic beach, frolic in the tidal pools at the edge of the Atlantic, and dance the afternoon away at Nipper’s while you produce nothing but good vibes with island friends.
A morning snorkel is on today’s itinerary at the impressive Fowl Cay Marine Park. There are several protected sites to choose from and your crew might guide you toward Baby Eights, Tombstone B, or the Chutes and Ladder sites. Since your appetite will be ready to roll and you earned yourself a mid-day tropical concoction, your crew will cruise back to the Sea of Abaco to anchor for lunch at Fowl Cay Beach. Keep your eyes peeled for the turtles and rays as this is their natural playland. The afternoon entails a necessary Chillaxin’ session as the boat moves to Matt Lowes Cay so you are rejuvenated for the sun and fun of the beaches along this shoreline. For our nature lovers, there is a bird sanctuary on the south side of the cay to challenge fellow guests in the “name-that-bird” game! Prizes will be awarded! If bird watching doesn’t thrill you, dive back in to snorkel the coral reef or simply float in water to bask in the tranquility of the special place.
Wake up and get excited to meet some of the friendliest fish in the Abacos at Mermaid Reef. They don’t name a reef after Mermaids for nothing, so this is your day to discover mermaid treasures and get your Mermaid (or “Mer-Man”) Tails on!! When in The Abacos, one must visit the pristine Tahiti Beach as you make your way to Little Harbor. Both will not disappoint as they present you with picturesque backdrops of turquoise blue buffered by soft white sand. Little Harbor also offers an opportunity to dabble in the historic and artful nature of the island.
Immersed in island time and love by now, you may not be motivated to get off the yacht at all! You’ll have the opportunity for a shore excursion to tour the Johnston Family Foundry & Gallery or stay focused on your water adventure and enjoy a swim with the turtles or snorkel in the Little Harbor Marine Park. Guest can paddleboard or kayak to the bat caves in search for hidden treasure or hit the local Petes Pub for a cocktail. Stay and play or cruise over to Sandy Cay Marine Park for another snorkel on the way to the evening anchorage of Tilloo Bank.
Today’s adventure includes a climb up the winding history stairs of the Hope Town Lighthouse. The Elbow Reef Lighthouse is probably the most recognizable landmark in Abaco and is one of the last hand-cranked lighthouses in the world! The keeper on duty must wind up the weights every 2 hours in order for the red and white candy- striped lighthouse to be seen from 17 miles away. Rich in history and strong in Bahamian culture, you’ll walk away with a new appreciation for the job of a lighthouse keeper! It will be the talk of the day as your charter yacht sails or cruises over to anchor next at Man-O-War Cay, home to the famous Albury boat builders.
About now your group will be conjuring a plan to extend the trip because paradise has been found and you absolutely do not want to leave. Yachting, snorkeling/diving, fishing, swimming with piggies, stingrays, sharks and sea turtles, paddleboarding for hours, kayaking into the blues and unlimited adventure should never end. So make the most of the last day with an early stop at the small uninhabited island of Spoil Cay for quiet beachcombing and storing up the tranquility of the islands. If you’d like to end the trip with more action, head to Treasure Cay Marina and take the afternoon to taste test your way through the island beach bars with your toes in the sand and a drink in hand! Shop at the local souvenir and gift shops in case you need more than the priceless memories to take back home.
After your chef dazzles you with one more breakfast and you come to the realization that you will have to say goodbye to the crew, splash back through the color pallet of turquoise to Marsh Harbour. If the travel day allows for more playtime, break out the fins, floats or departure cocktail–It’s 5 o’clock somewhere and your travel day is still part of the Chillaxin’ Vacation!
