8-day British Virgin Islands loop
8-day British Virgin Islands loop
A sample loop through U.S. & British Virgin Islands. Everything below is a starting point — every charter is shaped around your group, your pace, and the season.
Numbered pins mark each anchorage in order, traced by the real sailing route. Hover a leg to see that day's notes; scroll or pinch to zoom and click-drag to pan.
Board at noon and cruise over to Norman Island for your first anchorage. Afternoon options: snorkel The Indians or The Caves, meet up on the beach at Pirates Bight for cocktails, or catch happy hour at Willy T's. Dinner on board.
Sunrise yoga and a short hike before moving over to anchor at Cooper Island. Spend the morning on the SUPs, snorkel with the turtles that hang out around Cooper, or chillax on a float. Meet the group at the Cooper Island Rum Bar for a tasting. Dinner on board or ashore at the resort restaurant.
1The full-service marina on Tortola's south shore where most BVI charters begin. Everything you need for a smooth start — provisioning, fuel dock, restaurants — before slipping out into the Sir Francis Drake Channel.
2Norman Island sits on the edge of the Sir Francis Drake Channel, close to Tortola and Peter Island. Legend has it that treasure was buried here — perhaps inspiring Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. The Bight is one of the BVI's most scenic harbours, with over 100 moorings, and Pirates Bight beach club is a required stop.

Every itinerary is a starting point. Robyn adjusts the route, the pace and the stops around your group, your dates and the boat you choose.
Early move over to walk The Baths before breakfast and before the day charters arrive. Or skip The Baths and anchor in the North Sound. Optional lunch at the Mangrove waterfront bar and afternoon beach games at Bitter End followed by happy hour at Saba Rock.
Leisurely morning at anchor, then meet at Guana Island. Snorkel Monkey Point and enjoy the water toys. An afternoon beach party on the white sand of Guana, then anchor at Cane Garden Bay for the evening.
Move over to Sandy Spit and take the island hike around this unique little cay. From there, cruise the oasis of Sandy Spit then settle into anchorage at Jost Van Dyke. Option to hike to the Bubbly Pool and hit Foxy's Taboo and the B-Line Beach Bar.
Move from Little Jost to White Bay — a proper White Bay day. Gather for games at Hendo's Hideout and a dance party at Coco Loco's, followed by shenanigans at Foxy's. Or take over Ivan's Stress-Free Bar with a daytime DJ. Massages available at the floating Ocean Spa or on the beach.
Move to the quiet anchorage of Peter Island for the last dose of chillaxin. Enjoy the anchorage, the boat's water toys, a walk to the old Cigar Factory ruins, or a cocktail poolside at the Peter Island resort.
Get-away day. Breakfast on board and move over to Scrub Island to disembark. Try to make flights out of EIS after noon. If you'd like more island time, book an extra night or two on Scrub Island.
Splash in the sea, soak up the flaming sunsets, and snorkel your way through shimmering coral gardens as you fall into island time on Cooper Island. This 480-acre island is home to a private resort and marina perched on Manchioneel Bay. There's a beach for sprawling, a coast for kayaking, and a rum bar for evenings ashore.
4The third-largest island of the BVI, about 12 miles from Tortola. This is the quintessential Caribbean destination, with national parks, unspoiled beaches, safe anchorages and quiet coves. Its most famous attraction is The Baths — an otherworldly geological formation of huge granite boulders forming scenic grottos and pools.
5Guana Island may be small but it's an epic ecological reserve brimming with endemic wildlife, gauzy blue waters, and near-perfect beaches. Considered the most private and exclusive of the BVI islands, its landscape is all tropical foliage and flamingos — with hiking, several palm-fronted beaches, and giant iguanas basking in the shade of the trees.
6One of Tortola's most beautiful beaches. This horseshoe-shaped bay is a perfect spot to anchor and dip into sparkling waters. Laze on the soft white sands and enjoy the casual atmosphere of the beach bars for one of the finest sunsets in the BVI.
7A wisp of white sand surrounded by every shade of blue on a painter's palette. A remote uninhabited island — pack a picnic, leave the watch behind. Only an acre in size but hours can be lost swimming and finding the kaleidoscopic coral gardens that teem beneath the single sand dune.
8Fourteen acres of tropical sand and sea. Bright waters, soft sand, and a velvet green blanket over the land. Sandy Cay has panoramic views, native species, and wetlands rich with local birdlife. The eastern side is volcanic while the west is a coral atoll — juxtaposing geologies that create a landscape with plenty to see.
9Named after an early Dutch settler, Jost Van Dyke is a small picturesque island northwest of Tortola. At 4 miles long, it's home to only a few hundred permanent residents and known for its idyllic anchorages. The ideal spot for those who want to get away from it all — lush green forests, powdery beaches, turquoise waters and not much else.
10Peter Island lies about 4 km from Tortola and is a hotspot for Caribbean luxury charters — the largest private island in the BVI. Largely undeveloped, with only one hotel, it offers nature trails and walks through wonderful flora and fauna and the idyllic Deadman's Bay beach. Turtles are commonly spotted around the island.
11A private resort island offering nature and indulgence in equal measure. Spend the morning hiking the island's trails, lunch aboard or at the resort restaurant, then scuba dive and snorkel in the caves and reefs. Finish the day along one of the beaches. The perfect disembarkation port for lingering an extra night or two ashore.
