Chillaxin’ Charters is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Who this is for
We want chillaxincharters.com to be usable by as many people as possible, including guests who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text and reduced motion.
The standard we aim for
We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at conformance level AA. This is the standard most commonly referenced in connection with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
We assess this site as conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Where content reaches this site from elsewhere — photography and specifications from industry yacht feeds, and articles written in our previous website — we have brought it up to the same standard rather than leaving it as an exception.
What we have built in
- A “Skip to content” link as the first item you reach by keyboard on every page
- Proper page landmarks — header, navigation, main and footer — so assistive technology can jump between regions
- A visible focus outline on every link, button and form control
- Text labels on every form field, marked when a field is required, with autofill support
- Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful image, including the several hundred photographs inside our older articles
- Full respect for your system’s “reduce motion” setting: animations and scroll reveals stop
- Maps that can be panned and zoomed from the keyboard, with every anchorage they plot also written out in text
- Sample itineraries published as readable text on the page, not only as a PDF or a slideshow
- Colour combinations chosen and checked for contrast against the WCAG AA thresholds
- Layouts that reflow down to a 320-pixel-wide screen and survive text zoom
If something is not working for you
This matters to us, and feedback is the fastest way we find problems. If you hit a barrier on this site — a page you cannot read, a form you cannot complete, a document you cannot open — please tell us what happened and which page you were on.
Email robyn@chillaxincharters.com or call 847.867.9181. We aim to reply within one business day, and we will give you the information you were trying to reach by another route while we fix the underlying problem.
Planning a charter with access needs
Accessibility aboard varies enormously from yacht to yacht — companionway steps, cabin and heads layouts, tender boarding and deck access all differ. Tell Robyn what you need when you first get in touch and she will shortlist yachts and crew that can genuinely accommodate it, rather than leaving you to work it out from a brochure.
How we assess this site
This statement is based on our own review of the site against WCAG 2.2 AA, using a combination of automated checks and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. It has not been reviewed by an independent third party. We update it when the site changes materially.
