We recommend booking 8–12 months in advance to get your desired dates and the best selection of yacht options. If your timeline is 2–6 months, quality vessels are still available — just expect some date flexibility. Holiday weeks carry premium pricing, and the industry doesn't typically offer last-minute discounts.
The yacht's central agent provides a standardized contract detailing charter dates, fees and payment terms. You review the contract, ask questions, then sign via a secured online DocuSign process. Within 24–48 hours of signing, payment is wired to validate the contract.
Wire transfers go into escrow accounts, where funds remain secure until the charter date. Most contracts allow 2–3 installment payments. For bookings within three months of departure, expect a single full payment.
Charters are structured as either "All-Inclusive" or base fee plus A.P.A. All-inclusive covers fuel, mooring, food and beverages, though premium wines and spirits may incur surcharges. We walk you through every line of the contract before you sign.
A.P.A. (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is the standard arrangement for paying your provisioning expenses on a luxury yacht charter. A percentage — typically 20–25% — gets added to the base fee, creating a captain-managed account for fuel, food, drinks and dockage. Unused amounts are refunded after the charter; there are no markups applied.
Standard range is 15–20% of your base or all-inclusive charter fee. Tipping is voluntary and experience-based; cash tips are given directly to the captain at the end of the charter, and the captain distributes among the crew.
One to two months before departure, you'll receive a Preference Sheet to outline likes, dislikes and any special requests or dietary restrictions. Crews accommodate almost anything — provisioning has practical limits, so a little flexibility is appreciated.
